Permission to travel on to Khartoum from Malakal only came through yesterday, which meant a day's delay for Spirit of Artemis and team at Malakal.

pilots and local contacts indicate renewed fighting along our proposed
route, so we have been re-jigging the flight plans slightly. Just like
that plucky Irish lass Lady Heath did 85 years ago, we're opting for a
long, but direct dash up to Khartoum tomorrow.
"Fascinating place, but the lack of electricity and toilet seats in the hotel spurring us on. With a bit of luck, we'll get our flight permit early and reach Khartoum by mid afternoon.

* Next stop for Lady Heath after her few days enjoying the hospitality and the cool swimming baths of Khartoum was Atbara and then then Wadi Halfa a day later.
