"Knowledge is Safety" says Lady Heath

On April 17, 1929, Lady Mary Heath began a flying tour of the U.S, departing from Pine Brook Airport in New Jersey and making several short stops on the way to the west coast, visiting various schools and flying clubs. Although she flew in a plane with all the latest safety innovations, including the Handley-Page Automatic Slot, an accident occurred along the way on May 2, forcing her to make an emergency landing in Effingham, Ill. After repairs were made to the plane she was able to continue her journey.
